Thirty Years of Birding with Jerry VonEhwegen

Thirty Years of Birding with Loess Hills Audubon, What Birds, Birding, and Loess Hills Audubon Society Have Meant to Me.

This is an autobiographical retrospective of how Jerry, a non-birder for 50 years, became one of our preeminent birders and left his indelible mark on our chapter. Originally presented at our chapter meeting on Thursday, 5 May 2022 at the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center, Sioux City, IA.

Using eBird with Dr. Rex Rundquist

Questions about the eBird smartphone application or the eBird website? Our February 2022 program was a Zoom presentation with Loess Hills Audubon’s very own Dr. Rex Rundquist. We recorded Rex as he brought us up-to-speed on the eBird application and the impressive features of the eBird website. Pull up a chair and spend the next hour (and 6 minutes) as he provides pointers on the use of these 21st century birding tools.

Trail Tales at Adams Homestead

This program was presented at the general meeting of the Loess Hills Audubon Society on Thursday, 6 January 2022. The program was not recorded when presented. Several asked about having the program posted to this website. The original PowerPoint file is large (79 MB) and PowerPoint may not be available to everyone. So, as a compromise, here are the images from my presentation. None of them are larger than 200 K which allows for faster loading. The images will automatically advance after seven (7) seconds or use the arrow buttons to proceed (or go back) at your own pace.

Note: The bison are on PRIVATE PROPERTY adjacent to Adams Homestead. The images were obtained with a telephoto lens.

Bison are Dangerous!

Maintain a respectful distance from the fence and from the animals!

Thank you for your kind words regarding my images and presentation.

Randy
