Mindful Birding
9:00 am with Kari Sandage
Slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with nature in a whole new way during Mindful Birding. This unique program blends gentle yoga, guided meditation, and bird watching to help you tune into both your inner and outer landscapes. We’ll begin with simple, accessible movement and breathwork to ground the body, then transition into quiet observation—using our senses to notice bird songs, movement, and the rhythms of the natural world.
No prior yoga or birding experience is needed—just a willingness to be present. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat for floor-based movement, or you’re welcome to use a folding chair (provided) for a comfortable, seated practice.
Come cultivate calm, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the world around you. This event is part of the World Migratory Bird Day Celebration.
Instructor: Kari, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYS 200)- Yoga Alliance
Birding Reflections
1:00 pm with Sharon Polifka
Take this time to relax and socialize with fellow birders. Did you notice the diversity among birds– their different colors and shapes, behaviors, and songs? Mindful birdwatching means slowing down, staying present in time a little Longer, and allowing yourself to be aware and open to the the sights and sounds of birds. Can a relationship with nature and birds lead to more sustainable actions that protect our birds in the future? Are people more likely to protect and support those things they feel connected to? Poems about birds can be shared with others as we end at the park.
